TQV Community of Practice

Open to everyone interested in ensuring the Trustworthiness, Quality and Value of data and statistics.

The letters TQV next to the OSR logoThe TQV community of practice is for anyone who is already applying the principles of Trustworthiness, Quality and Value (TQV) from the Code of Practice for Statistics in their work, or who is interested in doing so.

Members of the community can be part of our TQV Voluntary Application scheme, but this is not required. Existing members come from all kinds of organisations including the public sector, charities, academia, or commercial organisations, as well as organisations that publish official statistics.

This is because thinking about Trustworthiness, Quality and Value can benefit anyone producing data, statistics and analysis, whether they are inside or outside government. TQV are relevant to all kinds of data, such as those published in statistical research, economic analysis and management information.

The TQV Community of Practice and the TQV Voluntary Application scheme are both managed by the Office for Statistics Regulation (OSR).

Quarterly sessions

Online community sessions are run quarterly, via MS Teams. The aims of these sessions are to build connections between and facilitate learning among members of the community. Typical sessions involve members of the community sharing their experiences of applying the Code principles, TQV, perhaps by focussing on a specific project or aspect of their work. OSR organises and facilitates the session, which includes time for questions and answers. OSR also updates the community on any new information about the TQV Voluntary Application Scheme and the Code.

Training and learning resources

Training sessions about applying TQV are run by OSR and open to members of the community. Other training sessions on specific topics can be developed if requested by community members. Alongside these, OSR is continually developing and refining learning resources to support self-learning.

OSR also provides ’off-the-shelf’ workshop material, which members of the community looking to embed TQV in their organisations and teams can use. There are currently courses about each of the principles, Trustworthiness, Quality and Value.

Buddies

OSR can assist in arranging ‘buddies’ for new members of the community. Typically, a new member would be paired with a more experienced TQV practitioner, to support their understanding and practice.
